Prima azienda siciliana del settore congressuale. Oggi impiega oltre settanta persone, tra dipendenti e collaboratori, con un fatturato di circa due milioni di euro.
Eurocongressi nasce a Palermo nel 1980 da una scommessa di Maria Luisa Tagliavia sul mercato dei congressi: è la prima azienda siciliana del settore. I primi incarichi arrivano dall'università e dalle società scientifiche. Nel 1983 seguiamo l'85° Congresso della Società Italiana di Chirurgia e la Conferenza del Parlamento Europeo sul diritto del mare; nel 1985 l'Assemblea Generale del CIRP, con circa 500 partecipanti. In quegli anni lavoriamo tra Palermo, Cefalù e Ustica, dove ogni estate si tiene il Festival Europeo del Software.
Dagli anni Novanta il nostro lavoro si intreccia con la storia della città. Nel 1993 lavoriamo, per la Presidenza della Regione, alla visita in Sicilia di Giovanni Paolo II. Per la Fondazione Giovanni e Francesca Falcone seguiamo per oltre dieci anni i convegni e le giornate del 23 maggio, fino alle quattromila persone riunite nell'aula bunker. Con le Nazioni Unite lavoriamo nel 1997 a una riunione preparatoria della convenzione contro il crimine organizzato transnazionale e, nel dicembre 2000, alla conferenza in cui la Convenzione di Palermo viene firmata. Due mesi dopo siamo al lavoro per la riunione dei ministri delle finanze del G7.
A metà degli anni Novanta al lavoro sui congressi se ne affianca un altro: l'accoglienza del pubblico nei teatri. Cominciamo con le maschere del Teatro Massimo, quando gli spettacoli andavano ancora in scena al Politeama; negli anni si aggiungono il Teatro Biondo e i musei delle Isole Egadi.
Nel 2011 l'azienda cambia forma, diventa Eurocongressi adv e passa a una nuova generazione di soci; Maria Luisa Tagliavia ne fa ancora parte. I congressi di medicina e di ingegneria degli inizi sono diventati congressi in ogni disciplina, eventi per gli enti pubblici, servizi nei luoghi della cultura. Società scientifiche, comitati organizzatori e aziende che hanno lavorato con noi ci affidano anche i congressi e gli eventi successivi, e molti nuovi incarichi arrivano su loro indicazione. Nei servizi per gli enti pubblici, assegnati con gara, lavoriamo con gli stessi committenti da anni: al Teatro Massimo dal 1995, attraverso i cicli quinquennali di affidamento, al Teatro Biondo da oltre dieci anni, nei siti museali delle Isole Egadi da oltre sei.
Il 70% del nostro fatturato viene da enti pubblici: Regione Siciliana, comuni, università, enti di ricerca. Da oltre dieci anni lavoriamo a eventi e campagne finanziati da fondi europei e nazionali, tra cui PR FESR Sicilia, PON Governance e PNRR. Affianchiamo gli uffici dell'ente in ogni passaggio amministrativo, dall'affidamento alla rendicontazione: l'esperienza maturata nelle procedure pubbliche ci permette di evitare rallentamenti e intoppi.
Dal 1980 lavoriamo a fianco dei comitati scientifici, in congressi di ingegneria, medicina, fisica, economia, diritto e scienze umanistiche. Gestiamo la sottomissione degli abstract e il processo di revisione, la composizione del programma, gli atti e il Book of Abstracts. Il comitato decide i contenuti; scadenze, piattaforma e comunicazioni con gli autori restano a noi.
Ogni evento è seguito direttamente dai responsabili dell'azienda, e il cliente ha lo stesso interlocutore dalla prima richiesta alla relazione finale. Partiamo da uno studio di fattibilità con il budget e più alternative di prezzo per ciascun servizio. Durante la preparazione il cliente segue l'andamento dell'evento in tempo reale su un portale dedicato, e alla chiusura riceve il bilancio consuntivo.
Abbiamo ottenuto la prima certificazione ISO 9001 nel 1997. Quella attuale, UNI EN ISO 9001:2015, è rilasciata da RINA dal 2012 per la progettazione e l'erogazione di servizi di organizzazione di eventi, il servizio maschere e hostess per l'accoglienza e i servizi di marketing. L'audit di sorveglianza di giugno 2026 si è chiuso senza non conformità.
Conserviamo le lettere che enti pubblici, università e organizzazioni internazionali ci hanno scritto al termine dei loro eventi. Tra queste, quelle per la Conferenza ONU del 2000 per la firma della Convenzione di Palermo e quella della Fondazione Giovanni e Francesca Falcone.

Eurocongressi was founded in Palermo in 1980, when Maria Luisa Tagliavia bet on the conference market: it was the first company of its kind in Sicily. The first assignments came from the university and from scientific societies. In 1983 we worked on the 85th Congress of the Italian Society of Surgery and on the European Parliament's Conference on the Law of the Sea; in 1985 on the General Assembly of CIRP, with around 500 participants. In those years we worked between Palermo, Cefalù and Ustica, where the European Software Festival was held every summer.
From the 1990s our work became entwined with the history of the city. In 1993 we worked, for the Presidency of the Sicilian Region, on the visit of Pope John Paul II to Sicily. For the Giovanni e Francesca Falcone Foundation we looked after the conferences and the 23 May commemorations for more than ten years, up to the four thousand people gathered in the bunker courtroom. With the United Nations we worked in 1997 on a preparatory meeting for the convention against transnational organized crime and, in December 2000, on the conference at which the Palermo Convention was signed. Two months later we were at work on the meeting of the G7 finance ministers.
In the mid-1990s a second line of work joined the conferences: front-of-house services in theatres. We began with the ushers of the Teatro Massimo, when its performances were still staged at the Politeama; over the years the Teatro Biondo and the museums of the Egadi Islands followed.
In 2011 the company changed its legal form, became Eurocongressi adv and passed to a new generation of partners; Maria Luisa Tagliavia is still one of them. The medical and engineering conferences of the early years have become conferences in every discipline, events for public bodies and services in cultural venues. Scientific societies, organising committees and companies that have worked with us entrust us with their next conferences and events too, and many new assignments come on their recommendation. In services for public bodies, which are awarded by tender, we have worked with the same clients for years: at the Teatro Massimo since 1995, through successive five-year contracts, at the Teatro Biondo for more than ten years, at the museum sites of the Egadi Islands for more than six.
70% of our turnover comes from public bodies: the Sicilian Region, municipalities, universities, research institutions. For more than ten years we have worked on events and campaigns financed by European and national funds, including PR FESR Sicilia, PON Governance and the PNRR. We work alongside the client's offices at every administrative step, from the award to the final reporting: our experience of public procedures allows us to avoid delays and setbacks.
Since 1980 we have worked alongside scientific committees, at conferences in engineering, medicine, physics, economics, law and the humanities. We manage abstract submission and the review process, the scheduling of the programme, the proceedings and the Book of Abstracts. The committee decides the content; deadlines, platform and communication with authors are our job.
Every event is followed directly by the company's senior staff, and the client has the same point of contact from the first request to the final report. We start from a feasibility study with the budget and several price options for each service. During preparation the client follows the progress of the event in real time on a dedicated portal, and at the end receives the final accounts.
We first obtained ISO 9001 certification in 1997. Our current UNI EN ISO 9001:2015 certificate has been issued by RINA since 2012 for the design and delivery of event organisation services, ushering and hostess services for reception, and marketing services. The June 2026 surveillance audit closed with no non-conformities.
We keep the letters that public bodies, universities and international organisations wrote to us at the close of their events. They include those for the UN Conference of 2000 for the signature of the Palermo Convention and the letter from the Giovanni e Francesca Falcone Foundation.
